Lake Forest Splits Two More Home Matches

Senior Chase Garber was 3-1 on the day as the Foresters fell 6-3 o Roosevelt University before defeating Milwaukee School of Engineering 7-2 Saturday at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.

Garber and freshman Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk won both of their matches at #1 doubles, defeating the top tandem from Roosevelt 8-3 and MSOE's best 8-5.

The Foresters' other points in the first match of the day came from the top and bottom of the singles lineup. Vyshyvanyuk defeated the Lakers' #1 player 6-2 in the first set and 6-4 in the second and junior Oliver Gallego prevailed 6-3, 6-0 at #6.

Lake Forest swept the doubles competition against the Raiders with freshman Jacob Tilton and junior Brant Christensen doubling up their opponents 8-4 at #2 and sophomores Pratheek Mandalapu and Zach Cho coming out on top 8-5 at #3.

Vyshyvanyuk finished off his second straight 4-0 Saturday by rolling to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #1 singles and the match-clinching point came from Tilton's 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) triumph at #3. Gallego edged out his opponent 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) at #6 and Garber closed out a long day at the club with a 6-0, 6-2 win.

Lake Forest and Roosevelt are now 3-2 on the season while MSOE fell to 1-4.

The Foresters will be in action next against visiting Calvin College on Thursday, February 27, at 8:00 p.m.
