Foresters Begin 2020 with Narrow Loss to Principia

Lake Forest dropped a 5-4 decision to Principia College on Saturday in the Foresters' first dual match of the season.

The Foresters were ahead going into singles play after winning two of three doubles matches. Freshman Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and senior Chase Garber edged out Principia's top tandem 8-6 while sophomores Pratheek Mandalapu and Zach Cho posted an 8-5 victory at #3.

The Panthers responded with wins at each of the top four spots in the singles lineup. Lake Forest junior Oliver Gallego took both sets 6-2 at #6 and Cho closed out the contest with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at #5.

Principia improved to 3-0 on the year.

The Foresters were originally scheduled to play two more matches on Sunday but they were cancelled due to facility issue. They will host Concordia University Wisconsin next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Carroll University afterwards at 6:00 at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
