Foresters Close Out Regular Season with Win over Dominican

Senior Joe Bove and freshman Carson Chen dropped just two games apiece in singles and doubles combined in Wednesday's 8-1 victory over visiting Dominican University.

Bove, playing in his final career home match, teamed with Chen to blank the Stars' #3 doubles team 8-0. Forester sophomore Aidan Burke and junior Chase Garber added an 8-2 triumph at #2 and Lake Forest's top tandem of senior Matt Kacyn and sophomore Brant Christensen defeat their counterparts 8-3.

Chen and Bove were the first to finish in singles, Chen routing his opponent 6-2, 6-0 at #6 and Bove taking both sets 6-1 at #2. At #5 freshman Mawande Mayiga did not lose a game in the first set before winning the second 6-3. Burke came out on top of a 6-2, 7-5 decision at the top of the lineup and freshman Matthew Pawlowski added a 6-3, 6-1 victory at #5.

The Foresters improved to 12-9 on the season while Dominican fell to 5-6.

Lake Forest will be in action next at the Midwest Conference Championships in Madison, Wisconsin, next weekend. The team tournament will take place on Friday and the individual tournaments will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
