Loss to Lawrence Ends Foresters' Win Streak

After rattling off four consecutive victories, Lake Forest was edged out 5-4 by Lawrence University at LifeSport Tennis Club in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Sunday.

The Vikings began the contest with a doubles sweep, including 7-5 tiebreaker victories at #2 and #3.

After Lawrence wins at #2 and #3 singles clinched the final outcome, Lake Forest came out on top at each of the other four spots in the lineup, starting with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph by junior Chase Garber at #4. Senior Matt Kacyn took the first set 6-4 and the second 6-2 at the top of the lineup and sophomore Brant Christensen came out on top of a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) decision at #5. Freshman Matthew Pawlowski dropped the first set 6-1 at #6 but came back to take the second in a tiebreaker before doubling up his counterpart 10-5 in the third set super-tiebreaker.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 11-9 and they finished Midwest Conference play at 6-2. Lawrence improved to 9-8 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Lake Forest will close out the regular season against Dominican University at home on Wednesday. The contest is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
