Sophomore Nick Zazove earned the only point for the visitors as the Lake Forest College men's tennis team was defeated 8-1 at Grinnell College on Saturday.
Zazove took the first set 6-2 and the second 7-5 at the top of the singles lineup for his fifth victory in as many matches during Midwest Conference play this spring. At 37-12 in his career with several matches remaining in his sophomore season, he is already half-way to the program's all-time record of 74 victories set by John Adams in 2013.
Saturday's contest at Grinnell as a battle between two teams entering with perfect records in MWC contests. The Foresters had prevailed in their previous six matches and are now 10-7 overall and 4-1 in the league. The Pioneers, who are ranked 17th in the region, improved to 15-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Lake Forest will remain in Iowa overnight and play another MWC match at Cornell College Sunday morning at 9:00.
