Junior Matt Kacyn went 3-1 on the day as the Forester men's tennis team fell 8-1 to Carthage College before defeating Edgewood College by the same score at the Racine Tennis Club on Saturday.

Kacyn and sophomore Nick Zazove doubled up the #2 doubles team from Carthage 8-4 for Lake Forest's only point in the first match of the day. Kacyn was able to force a third set super tiebreaker at #3 singles but could not come up with the victory.

The Foresters changed up their doubles lineup against Edgewood. Kacyn and fellow freshman Brett O'Brien prevailed 8-3 at the top spot and Zazove teamed up with junior Scott Drier on an 8-5 triumph at #2. Edgewood had just five players and had to forfeit the bottom spot in both the doubles and singles lineup.

Lake Forest added four more victories in singles, beginning with freshman Aidan Burke's 6-0, 6-1 win at #5. Kacyn did not lose a game at #3 and O'Brien took both sets 6-2 at #2. Junior Joe Bove came out on top of a 6-0, 6-3 decision at #4 to account for the Foresters' eighth and final point and the Eagles closed out the contest with a victory at #1.

The split gave Lake Forest a 3-1 record on the young season. Carthage improved to 2-1 and Edgewood fell to 1-3.

The Foresters will host Judson University at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff Friday night at 8:00.
