Lake Forest College men's tennis player Trevor Allen was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance at the Midwest Conference Team and Individual Tournaments in Madison, Wisconsin, over the weekend.

Lake Forest was the runner-up in Friday's team championship tournament, defeating Cornell College 5-1 in the semifinals before being edged out 5-3 by Grinnell College in the championship match. Allen and senior Ellis Lora-Arceo started their day with an 8-4 victory at #2 doubles against Cornell and Allen added a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over the Rams at #2 singles. Grinnell handed Allen his only loss of the weekend when the Pioneers swept the three doubles matches but Allen took both sets 6-2 in singles to pull the Foresters to within a point at 4-3. Grinnell prevailed in one of the two three-set matches still out on the court to clinch the title.

Allen was the top seed in Saturday's #2 singles tournament and coasted to a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the quarterfinals. He worked a little harder in a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) triumph in the semifinals before once again defeating his counterpart from Cornell 6-3, 6-1 to earn the league's #2 singles championship for the second straight season. Allen and Lora-Arceo prevailed 8-2 in the quarterfinals of Sunday's #2 doubles tournament and edged out their opponents from Monmouth College 9-7 in the semifinals. A rematch with Grinnell was next and the Forester tandem came out on top 9-7 to take the title.

After going 9-1 on the weekend in singles and doubles play combined, Allen finished the season with an overall mark of 30-16 and is now 69-30 in his two years at the College.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Allen also earned the award once as a freshman.
