Junior Nick Rehm and senior Dragan Trivanovic did not drop a game in doubles or singles play as the Forester men's tennis team prevailed 9-0 at Illinois College on Saturday. It was the first league match of the season for Lake Forest.
Trivanovic and Rehm quickly defeated their opponents 8-0 at #3 doubles. Sophomore Trevor Allen and senior Ellis Lora-Arceo followed with an 8-2 victory at #2 and an 8-3 triumph by junior Dan Pivonka and freshman Nick Zazove at #1 gave the visitors a sweep of doubles play.
Trivanovic was the first to finish in singles, posting a 6-0, 6-0 win at #5, and Rehm's victory by the same score at #5 clinched the match for the Foresters. Allen won 6-1, 6-0 at #2 and Zazove took both sets 6-1 at #3. Lora-Arceo blanked his counterpart at #4 in the first set and prevailed 6-2 in the second to make the score 8-0. Pivonka needed a little more time than his teammates but still came out on top 6-7 (1-7), 6-1, (11-9) at the top spot in the lineup.
Lake Forest evened its overall record on the season at 8-8 while the Blueboys fell to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the Midwest Conference.
The Foresters will continue conference play with a pair of road matches on Sunday. The team is scheduled to take on Knox College at 9:00 a.m. and Monmouth College at 1:00 in the afternoon.
