Foresters Fall to Carthage, Defeat Edgewood

Senior Dragan Trivanovic was one of four Foresters to go 3-1 on the day as the Lake Forest College men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Carthage College before blanking Edgewood College 9-0 on Sunday.

Trivanovic and junior Nick Rehm, his partner at #3 doubles, were edged out 8-6 against Carthage in their first match of the day. Both responded with victories in singles, however, with Trivanovic winning 6-1, 6-0 at #5 and Rehm prevailing 6-1, 6-4 at #6. Forester freshman Nick Zazove came out on top in a pair of tiebreakers during his 7-6 (11-9), 1-6, (10-4) triumph at #3 singles and senior Ellis Lora-Arceo added a 6-4, 6-3 victory at #4.

After dropping all three doubles matches in their first match of the day, the Foresters swept Edgewood. Lora-Arceo teamed with junior Dan Pivonka on an 8-3 win at #1, Zazove and sophomore Trevor Allen posted an 8-1 victory at #2, and Trivanovic and Rehm blanked their counterparts at #3 8-0.

Trivanovic and Rehm each finished off a 6-1, 6-0 win in singles to clinch the team's victory over Edgewood. Pivonka followed with a 6-1, 7-5 triumph at the top spot in the lineup and Allen did not lose a game at #2. Lora-Arceo took both sets 6-1 at #4 and Zazove closed out the contest with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #3.

The Foresters are now 3-2 on the season. Carthage added a 7-2 victory over Edgewood after defeating Lake Forest and is also 3-2 this year. Edgewood fell to 0-5.

Lake Forest's next match will be played on Saturday, February 25, when the team hosts Calvin College at 6:30 p.m. at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
