The Lake Forest College men's tennis team defeated Illinois Wesleyan University 9-0 before falling to host Carthage College, the 16th-ranked team in the Central Region, on Saturday. Forester senior John Snider's 100th career victory closed out the team's first match of the evening.

Snider and sophomore Dan Pivonka doubled up the #1 doubles team from Illinois Wesleyan 8-4 to finish off a sweep of the doubles matches. Freshman Trevor Allen and junior Ellis Lora-Arceo prevailed 8-3 at #2 while freshman Karl Fehn and sophomore Nick Rehm posted an 8-1 victory at #3.

Fehn and Lora-Arceo were the first to win in singles, defeating their counterparts at #6 and #4 singles, respectively, by the same 6-1, 6-0 score. Forester junior Dragan Trivanovic added a 6-0, 6-3 victory at #5 and Allen matched Fehn and Lora-Arceo's 6-1, 6-0 tally at #2. Pivonka knocked off the Titans' top player 6-4, 6-1 and Snider's 6-3, 6-2 triumph at #3 was the 100th in his four seasons on the team. He is just the seventh player in program history to reach the milestone.

All three of the doubles matches ended with the same 8-5 score and, unfortunately for the Foresters, Carthage came out on top at #1 and #2 while Fehn and Rehm won at #3.

A super-tiebreaker decided four of the six singles matches and the Red Men prevailed in three of the four cases. The visitors' only point in singles came at #2, where Allen edged out his opponent 6-3, 0-6, (10-7).

The split left the Foresters with a 7-6 record on the season. Carthage, which also defeated Illinois Wesleyan 9-0 earlier in the day, improved to 13-6. Illinois Wesleyan fell to 0-7.

Lake Forest will begin Midwest Conference play in Iowa next Saturday. The Foresters will play at Cornell College at 9:00 a.m. before traveling to Grinnell College for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
