Dan Pivonka Named MWC Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College men's tennis player Dan Pivonka was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday after helping lead the Foresters to three victories in league play last weekend.

Pivonka, a freshman, won at the top spot in both the doubles and singles lineups in each match beginning with the team's 7-2 victory at St. Norbert College Saturday morning. He and doubles partner John Snider prevailed 8-3 and his 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-1 triumph in singles clinched the match for the Foresters.

Lake Forest also defeated host Lawrence University 9-0 Saturday afternoon. Pivonka and Snider teamed up for another 8-3 win at #1 doubles and Pivonka did not lose a game in his victory at #1 singles.

The Foresters came out on top of another 9-0 decision at Ripon College on Sunday to close out the weekend. Pivonka and Snider prevailed 8-2 in doubles and Pivonka edged out his counterpart in singles 6-1, 1-6, (10-5).

Pivonka leads Lake Forest with 25 victories in singles and doubles combined this year. The Foresters are now 11-10 overall and 5-1 in conference matches.
