Foresters Win at St. Norbert and Lawrence, Climb to .500 on the Season

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team prevailed 7-2 at St. Norbert College at 9-0 at Lawrence University on Saturday. Sophomore Ellis Lora-Arceo was one of three Foresters to win four times on the day.

Lora-Arceo and freshman Nick Rehm gave the visitors the lead for good at St. Norbert when they edged out the Green Knights' #3 doubles team 9-8 (13-11). The home team had earned the first team point with a victory at #2 doubles and the Foresters tied the match when freshman Dan Pivonka and junior John Snider finished off an 8-3 win at #1.

Rehm triumphed 6-2, 6-1 at #5 singles and sophomore Dragan Trivanovic added a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 victory at #6. Pivonka dropped the first set 7-6 (7-4) but came back to take the second 6-4 and the third 6-1, clinching the team's win. Lora-Arceo posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory at #3 and junior Mike Riley tacked on a 6-3, 7-5 win at #4.

Riley and Trivanovic started the match at Lawrence by blanking the Vikings' #2 doubles team 8-0. Pivonka and Snider won 8-3 and Lora-Arceo and Rehm came out on top of an 8-4 decision at #3.

Trivanovic was also the first to finish in singles, winning 6-2, 6-0 at #6. Pivonka and Rehm did not lose a game at #1 and #5 singles and Snider prevailed 6-2, 6-1 at #2, the highest he ever appeared in the team's lineup. Lora-Arceo triumphed 6-1, 6-3 at #3 and Riley eeked out a 7-6 (7-1) victory in the first set at #4 before taking the second 6-2.

Lake Forest is now 10-10 overall this season and 4-1 in Midwest Conference play. St. Norbert fell to 5-9 overall and 3-3 in the league and Lawrence is now 10-11 overall and 4-3 in conference matches.

The Foresters will continue MWC play at Ripon College Sunday afternoon at 1:00.
