Lake Forest Falls to Region's 16th-Ranked Team

The Forester men's tennis team was defeated 8-1 by visiting Carthage College at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff Friday night. Junior John Snider earned Lake Forest's point at #3 singles.

Snider dropped the first set 6-2 but took the second 6-3. He then outscored his opponent 10-5 in the third set super tiebreaker to earn the victory.

Snider and freshman Dan Pivonka, his teammate at #1 doubles, nearly defeated the 12th-ranked doubles team in the region but were edged out 9-7.

The loss drops the Foresters' record on the season to 8-10. Carthage, the 16th-ranked team in the Central Region, improved to 12-6.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play on the road next weekend. The Foresters will play at St. Norbert College at 10:00 a.m. and Lawrence University at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The team will also travel to Ripon College on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
