Foresters Edge Out Roger Williams University 5-4

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team closed out its Spring Break trip to Orlando, Florida, with a 5-4 victory over Roger Williams University on Thursday. Forester freshman Dan Pivonka prevailed at #1 singles and #1 doubles.

Pivonka's 6-1, 6-3 triumph in singles tied the match at one and the Foresters took the lead when sophomore Dragan Trivanovic finished off his 6-4, 6-2 win at #6. Junior John Snider dropped the first set 6-4 but took the second 6-2 and the third set super tiebreaker 10-4 to earn the point at #4. The Hawks came out on top at #5 but a 6-3, 6-2 victory by sophomore Ellis Lora-Arceo at #2 gave Lake Forest a 4-2 lead after singles play.

Pivonka and Snider were the first to finish in doubles, winning 8-4 at the top spot in the lineup to clinch the Forester victory. Roger Williams earned the other two points at #2 and #3.

Lake Forest went 2-3 in five Florida matches and is now 6-7 on the season. Roger Williams fell to 2-3.

The Foresters' next match will be against visiting Wheaton College next Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
