Foresters Fall to Oglethorpe and Wooster

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team continued its Spring Break trip to Orlando with a pair of matches on Wednesday. After dropping a 7-2 decision to Oglethorpe University early in the day, the Foresters were defeated 8-1 by the College of Wooster in the evening. Junior John Snider helped earn two of the team's three points.

After Oglethorpe swept the doubles matches and added a point at #3 singles, Snider and sophomore Dragan Trivanovic finished off victories for the Foresters. Trivanovic defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-2 at #6 singles and Snider took both sets 6-1 at #4. A triumph at #5 clinched the win for the Stormy Petrels and they also came out on top of close decisions at the top two spots in the lineup.

After falling 8-4 to Oglethorpe the first time they played together, Snider and freshman Dan Pivonka posted an 8-6 victory at #1 doubles against Wooster. It turned out to be Lake Forest's only win of the night, although both players also came close in singles with Pivonka falling 6-3, 6-4 at #1 and Snider being edged out 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at #4. Sophomore Ellis Lora-Arceo also had a chance to pull one out at #2 but dropped both sets 6-3.

The losses leave Lake Forest with a 5-7 record so far this season. Oglethorpe, the 14th-ranked team in the Atlantic Region, improved to 3-4 and Wooster to 4-3.

The Foresters will close out their Spring Break trip against Roger Williams University Thursday morning at 8:00 (EST). The match will be played at Oak Street Community Park in Kissimmee, Florida.
