Foresters Defeat Concordia Wisconsin, Even Record at 4-4

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team hosted and defeated Concordia University Wisconsin 8-1 Friday night at nearby Racquet Club of Lake Bluff. After winning a close match at #1 doubles, Forester freshman Dan Pivonka blanked the Falcons' top player 6-0, 6-0 at the top spot in the singles lineup.

Pivonka and sophomore Ellis Lora-Arceo came out on top of an 8-6 decision in doubles, giving the home team an early 2-0 lead. Lake Forest freshman Nick Rehm and sophomore Dragan Trivanovic also prevailed by the same 8-6 score at #3 doubles. Concordia Wisconsin earned its only point of the match at #2 doubles, where the visitors eeked out a 9-8 (7-4) victory.

The Foresters swept the six singles matches, beginning with Pivonka's rout at #1. Trivanovic was the next to finish, outscoring his opponent 6-2 in the first set and 6-0 in the second. Lora-Arceo earned Lake Forest's match-clinching fifth point with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #2 and Rehm also prevailed in convincing fashion, taking both sets 6-1. Junior John Snider finished off a 6-2, 6-3 victory at #4 and junior Mike Riley closed out the contest with a 6-1, 5-7, (10-2) triumph at #3.

Lake Forest is now 4-4 and Concordia Wisconsin 1-3 this season.

The Foresters' next five matches will be played in Orlando, Florida, during the team's Spring Break trip. They will begin against Ursinus College on Monday, March 9.
