Foresters Defeat Ripon, Clinch Spot in MWC Tournament

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team defeated Ripon College 8-1 at home on Saturday after a weather delay of nearly four hours. Freshman Ellis Lora-Arceo was one of four Foresters to post victories in both doubles and singles play.

Lora-Arceo and senior Anthony Warren's 8-5 triumph at #1 doubles gave the home team a 3-0 lead going into singles play. Freshman Dragan Trivanovic and sophomore John Snider had already finished off an 8-1 victory at #2 doubles and juniors Anthony Mykhaylovskyy and Derek Schaltz prevailed 8-4 at #3.

Snider was the first to finish in singles and did not lose a game in his 6-0, 6-0 win at #4. Trivanovic then clinched the team's victory by prevailing 6-0, 6-3 at #3. Mykhaylovskyy (6-2, 6-1) and Lora-Arceo (6-1, 6-1) earned their second wins of the match at #5 and #2 singles, respectively, and senior Jerry Wang came out on top of a 6-1, 6-0 decision at #6.

The Red Hawks earned their only point of the match at #1 singles.

The Foresters are now 12-10 overall this season and 3-0 in Midwest Conference North Division play. Ripon fell to to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in the division.

Lake Forest and Carroll University are tied atop the MWC North standings and will face each other in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. With their victories on Saturday, the Foresters and Pioneers have already clinched the division's berths in the four-team conference tournament on April 25.
