Men's tennis player John Snider was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance in the team's three narrow victories over the weekend.
Snider, a sophomore, began the weekend with an 8-5 victory with freshman Ellis Lora-Arceo at #1 doubles in the Foresters' 5-4 triumph over visiting St. Norbert College. He also won 6-4, 6-3 at #3 singles to give the home team a 3-2 lead at the time.
Lake Forest also defeated Knox College Saturday night at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff. After falling at the top spot in the doubles lineup, Snider's 6-4, 6-4 triumph at #3 singles provided the clinching point in a 5-4 Forester victory.
Snider was back at his usual position in the lineup for Sunday's match at Lawrence University, which the Foresters also took 5-4. He teamed with freshman Dragan Trivanovic on an 8-6 victory at #2 doubles and added a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win at #4 singles. His final victory of the weekend was also the 50th of his career in singles and doubles combined.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
