Foresters Pull Out 5-4 Victory at Lawrence

After winning 5-4 twice on Saturday, the Lake Forest College men's tennis team did it again on Sunday at Lawrence University. Forester senior Jerry Wang's victory at #6 singles provided the winning point and gave the team a 2-0 record in Midwest Conference North Division play.

Wang's 7-5, 6-3 triumph was his 11th win in his last 14 singles matches. It followed a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory by sophomore John Snider at #4 and a 6-2, 7-5 win at #5 by junior Anthony Mykhaylovskyy.

Before splitting the six singles matches, the Foresters took the lead by winning two of three in doubles. Mykhaylovskyy and fellow junior Derek Schaltz prevailed at 8-3 for the first point of the contest and Snider and freshman Dragan Trivanovic made the score 2-0 with an 8-6 victory at #2.

Lake Forest is now 11-10 overall this season. The Vikings fell to 3-10 overall and dropped their first league match of the year.

The Foresters will continue conference play at home against Ripon College next Saturday. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m.
