Lake Forest Edged Out by Monmouth

The Forester men's tennis team was defeated 5-4 by visiting Monmouth College at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff on Saturday. Lake Forest junior Anthony Mykhaylovskyy won both of his matches on the afternoon.

Mykhaylovskyy and fellow junior Derek Schaltz prevailed 8-4 at #3 doubles but losses at #1 and #2 left the Foresters with a 2-1 deficit going into singles play.

A 6-1, 6-2 win at #6 singles by Lake Forest senior Jerry Wang tied the score at two but Monmouth finished off victories at the top three spots in the lineup to clinch the match. Forester sophomore John Snider came out on top of a 6-4, 6-1 decision at #4 and Mykhaylovskyy triumphed 7-5, 6-4 at #5 to close out the contest.

Lake Forest fell to 7-9 on the season while the Fighting Scots raised their record to 8-9.

The Foresters will host a pair of matches on campus on Sunday. The team will take on Grinnell College at 9:00 a.m. and Dominican University at 3:00 in the afternoon. Grinnell and Dominican will play at noon.
