Lake Forest Splits Two Matches in Hilton Head on Wednesday

The Forester men's tennis team defeated Heidelberg University 7-2 but fell 6-3 to Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday during the team's Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Forester junior Anthony Mykhaylovskyy won both of his singles matches on the day and earned the clinching point against Heidelberg.

Rain postponed the start of the match and the contest began with shortened singles matches. Forester sophomore John Snider was the first to finish, defeating his opponent 10-2 at #4, and freshman Ellis Lora-Arceo was next with a 10-4 victory at #2. Sophomore Jordan Stoler prevailed 10-7 at #6 and freshman Dragan Trivanovic earned a 10-6 triumph at #3. After Heidelberg got a point at #1, Mykhaylovskyy eeked out an 11-9 win at #5.

Lake Forest added victories at the top two spots in the doubles lineup. Lora-Arceo and senior Anthony Warren came out on top of an 8-6 decision at #1 while Stoler and senior Jerry Wang were winning by the same score at #2.

The Student Princes fell to 3-3 on the season.

The singles matches were also played first in the Foresters' evening match against Baldwin Wallace. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 3-0 lead with wins at the top three positions but Lake Forest pulled even by taking the other three matches, beginning with Snider's 6-0, 6-3 triumph at #4. Senior Jerry Wang won 6-1, 6-4 at #6 and Mykhaylovskyy, after splitting the first two sets, won the super tiebreaker to take his #5 singles match 6-2, 2-6, (10-7).

The Foresters were done scoring, however, as Baldwin Wallace swept the doubles to earn its 11th win in 12 matches this season. Lake Forest fell to 5-7.

The Foresters will close out their Spring Break trip against the College of Wooster Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
