Foresters Fall at Carthage in Final Dual Match of 2013

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision at Carthage College Wednesday evening. Forester freshman John Snider helped account for both of the visitors' team points.

Snider and sophomore Anthony Mykhaylovskyy edged out their opponents 8-6 at #2 doubles but losses at #1 and #3 had the Foresters trailling 2-1 entering singles play.

Lake Forest's only singles victory was a 4-6, 6-3, (10-5) triumph at #6 by Snider. Three of the five losses, however, involved at least one tiebreaker. Senior John Adams fell 6-1 in the opening set at #1 but took the second 6-3. The top players from both teams were tied 6-6 in set three before Carthage eventually prevailed 7-5 in the tiebreaker. Another Forester senior, Kevin Lasky, was defeated 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), (10-6) at #4 and junior Jerry Wang fell 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 at #5.

The Foresters finished 9-11 on the season while the Red Men raised their record to 10-8.

Lake Forest will compete in the Midwest Conference Championships this weekend. Six positional singles tournaments will be played on Saturday and the three doubles tourneys on Sunday.
