Lake Forest Blanks Illinois College Indoors

The Forester men's tennis team won all nine matches against visiting Illinois College Friday night. Freshman Jordan Stoler was one of four Lake Forest players to win in both doubles and singles play.

Stoler and senior Eric Caplan defeated the Blueboys' #3 doubles team 8-2, to complete a sweep of the doubles matches. Senior John Adams and freshman Mike Riley won 8-0 at #1 while sophomore Anthony Mykhaylovskyy and freshman John Snider prevailed by the same score at #2.

Adams was the first to win in singles play. He blanked the top player from Illinois College 6-0, 6-0 and is now 7-0 against #1 singles players on Midwest Conference teams. Junior Jerry Wang, Stoler, and Caplan also posted 6-0, 6-0 victories at #4, #5, and #6 singles, respecitvely. Riley lost just one game in his 6-0, 6-1 triumph at #2 and senior Kevin Lasky came out on top of a 6-1, 6-2 decision at #3.

The match was originally schduled for 4:00 p.m. at Lake Forest College. The rain and cold forced the contest to be played indoors at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff and it did not begin until 8:00 p.m.

The Foresters are now 9-7 this season while the Blueboys fell to 0-10.

Lake Forest will travel to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday and take on the hosts at 9:30 a.m. The Foresters will also play the University of Dubuque at noon.
