Foresters Defeat Ripon in First MWC North Match in Team History

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team prevailed 6-3 at Ripon College Friday night. Freshmen John Snider and Jordan Stoler each won twice in the Foresters' first league match since moving from the South to the North Division of the Midwest Conference prior to the season.

Snider and Stoler gave the visitors the early lead with an 8-1 triumph at #3 doubles. The Red Hawks, however, won at the top two positions in the doubles lineup and led 2-1 entering singles play.

6-0, 6-0 victories by Stoler, Snider, and senior John Adams at #6, #5, and #1 singles, respectively, put the Foresters back on top and within a point of clinching the match. Senior Kevin Lasky earned the Foresters' fifth team point with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #3 and junior Jerry Wang added a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #4.

Lake Forest is now 7-6 overall this season. Ripon, which was also playing its first league match of the year, fell to 1-11 overall.

The Foresters will continue conference play at St. Norbert College Saturday morning at 9:00.
