Lake Forest Defeats Wooster and Edgewood, Climbs to .500 on the Year

The Forester men's tennis team won a pair of matches in Hilton Head, South Carolina, on Wednesday defeating the College of Wooster 5-4 and Edgewood College 7-2. Thanks in part to four victories on the day by sophomore Anthony Mykaylovskyy, the Foresters evened their record at 5-5 on the season.

Mykhaylovskyy and freshman John Snider started the day with an 8-2 victory over Wooster's #3 doubles team. Forester senior John Adams and freshman Mike Riley also won by the same score at #1 and the Foresters led 2-1 going into singles play.

Adams quickly finished off Wooster's top player 6-2, 6-2 but the Fighting Scots tied the match with victories at #2 and #4. Mykhaylovskyy regained the lead for the Foresters with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at #3 and Snider's 6-4, 6-4 win at #6 clinched the Lake Forest victory.

The Foresters' second match of the day began with singles play. Riley and senior Kevin Lasky staked the team to an early lead with 6-1, 6-2 victories at #2 and #4, respectively and Senior Eric Caplan added a narrow 2-6, 6-3, (10-7) win in his season debut at #6. Mykhaylovskyy's 7-5, 6-2 victory at #3 gave Lake Forest a 4-2 lead going into doubles.

Adams and Riley posted a convincing 8-1 victory at #1 doubles to clinch the Forester win. Mykhaylovskyy followed with an 8-3 win at #3 while Lasky and junior Jerry Wang prevailed by the same score at #2.

Wooster fell to 3-5 and Edgewood is now 1-13 on the season.

Lake Forest will conclude its Spring Break play Thursday afternoon at 12:30 (EST) against Gettysburg College at the South Beach Racquet Club. The women's team from each school will also compete at the same time and place.
