Lake Forest Holds Off Illinois College to Win 2-1

The Lake Forest men's soccer team took down Illinois College on Saturday afternoon in decisive fashion, winning the game 2-1. 

The Foresters scored twice in the first half. Sophomore Muhamed Prijic struck first with an unassisted goal within the first 10 minuntes of the game. Prijic found himself down field in front of the Blueboys' goal with only two defenders near him. He had a clean shot, took it, and was able to get the ball passed the goalie.

Sophomore Elliot Hull scored the second and ultimate game-winning goal for the Foresters off a penalty kick at the 24:09 mark.

Illinois College scored their only goal in the second half 45 minutes of play and despite an aggressive offense, were unable to even the score or take the lead.

Forester goalkeeper Szymon Mocarski earned another win despite being injuried in the 67th minute of play; in the goal for the Foresters for the conclusion of the game was junior Guiseppe Scalera who had five saves.

The Foresters are now 4-9-1 overall and hold a 4-1 record against Midwest Conference opponents. Illinois College moves to 7-5-1 and 0-3.

Lake Forest will next play at Cornell College on Saturday, October 16 at 1:30 p.m.
