Foresters Win at Beloit, Remain Perfect in MWC Play

Junior Joao Godoy scored the official game-winning goal Wednesday as Lake Forest posted a 3-1 victory at Beloit College.

Godoy's first goal of the year put the visitors on top 2-1 with 35 minutes remaining. He was assisted by senior Gaston Aubert, who stepped in front of a clearing attempt by a Buccaneer defender, gained control of the ball, and had his cross deflect off another defender in front of the goal to Godoy.

Despite out-shooting the home team 12-2 in the opening period, the Foresters trailed 1-0 at halftime. Sophomore Erik Pruitt tied the score four minutes and 12 seconds into the second half with freshman Joey Boduch assisting. It was Pruitt's second score this season.

After Godoy gave the Foresters the lead, they added to it at the 65:50 mark on the team-high ninth goal of the year for senior Gaston Aubert.

Lake Forest had a 12-1 edge in shots after halftime and a 24-3 advantage in the game.

Forester junior goalkeeper Jan Roessler recorded a save on the Buccaneers' only shot on goal in the second half and earned the win.

The victory improved Lake Forest's overall record to 5-6-1 and Midwest Conference mark to 3-0-0. Beloit fell to 4-7-2 overall and 2-2-0 in the league.

The Foresters will continue league play against visiting St. Norbert College Saturday afternoon at 3:30.
