Foresters Edge Out Grinnell to Open MWC Play

Freshman Patrick Limanowka's first career goal broke a 1-1 tie with 13:33 to play and Lake Forest held on for a 2-1 triumph over Grinnell College at home on Saturday.

Limanowka redirected a cross from senior Lucas Geib and into the right side of the net for the first two points of Limanowka's career.

The game-winner was the Foresters' first goal this season that was not scored or assisted by senior Gaston Aubert, who gave the home team the early lead at 24:45 with his sixth goal of the season. Junior Tate Rosenhagan assisted on the play, sending a cross from the left side of the field that was headed off the goalie's outstretched hands and into the top right corner of the goal by Aubert.

The Pioneers eventually tied the score at the 61:03 mark.

Lake Forest had an 11-4 advantage in shots in the contest.

The Midwest Conference-opening victory improved the Foresters' overall record on the season to 3-5-1 while Grinnell fell to 4-5-0.

Lake Forest will try to make it a sweep of league teams from Iowa when the team hosts Cornell College Sunday afternoon at 1:30.
