Foresters Drop Heartbreaker to Wheaton in Double Overtime

After 108 minutes, the Lake Forest College men's soccer team came out on the wrong end of a 1-0 decision against Wheaton College at home on Tuesday.

The Thunder broke the scoreless tie with just two minutes to play in the second overtime period.

Forester junior goalkeeper Jan Roessler made a career-high seven saves in the contest, including one in each of the extra periods.

Wheaton out-shot the Foresters 18-13, although the home team had eight attempts to the Thunder's seven in the second half.

It was the fifth consecutive one-goal loss for the Foresters, who fell to 2-5-1 on the year. Wheaton is now 6-2-1.

Lake Forest will begin Midwest Conference play this weekend, hosting Grinnell College on Saturday and Cornell College for parents Day on Sunday. Both contests will begin at 1:30 p.m.
