Senior Gaston Aubert scored both of Lake Forest's goals in a 2-2 tie with visiting Ohio Northern University on Friday in the first game of the season for both teams.

Aubert, who missed all but the first two games of the 2018 season because of injury, tied the game at one in the 21st minute. Sophomore Erik Truitt's pass led him to the right side of the box and his shot stayed low and skipped past the goalie and a pair of Foresters on its way to the back of the net.

The score remained 1-1 until the visitors struck again at the 69:27 mark. Aubert's second answer came in the form of a penalty kick he drew when he was tripped entering the right side of the box. He converted on the opportunity with just 5:22 to play in the contest.

The Polar Bears had a 22-14 advantage in shots, although just six of their attempts were on target compared to seven for the home team.

Lake Forest junior goalkeeper Jan Roessler finished the contest with four saves.

It was the Foresters' first season-opening tie since another 2-2 deadlock with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1991.

Lake Forest will host Illinois Wesleyan University next Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
