Four Foresters Named All-MWC

The Midwest Conference announced the 2018 All-MWC Men's Soccer Teams on Thursday and four Lake Forest College players were recognized among the league's best.

Lucas Geib was the Foresters' lone representative on the first team after earning second team honors a year ago. He ranked second in the conference with 13 goals and 32 points and tied-for-fourth with six assists. On a per-game basis, the junior forward also finished tied-for-26th in the nation in points and 37th in goals. After three seasons on the team Geib has 60 career points on 25 goals and 10 assists.

Senior Jakub Opiola, who saw playing time in the midfield early in the year before moving back to defender, was one of three Foresters on the second team. He scored one goal, assisted on three, and helped limit Forester opponents to just 1.17 scores per contest.

Goalkeeper Tero Elias was also a second team selection. He was 9-5-0 on the season and ranked fourth in the conference with 0.94 goals against average and .764 save percentage and third with four shutouts. The senior finished his three-year playing career at the College with a program record 28 victories and is tied-for-fourth in team history with nine shutouts.

Opiola and Elias were joined on the second team by sophomore Joao Godoy, who ranked sixth in the conference with nine goals and 20 points. The midfielder was one of just two players in the league to record multiple hat tricks on the year.

Lake Forest finished the season with a 10-7-1 overall record and placed fourth in the MWC standings at 6-3-0 in the league.

It marked the fourth consecutive season the Foresters had four or more players earn all-conference honors and the ninth year in a row with at least one representative on the first team.
