Sophomore Joao Godoy scored three goals and assisted on another as the Lake Forest College men's soccer team hosted and defeated Lawrence University 7-1 on Saturday.

Godoy now has 21 points on nine goals and three assists this season.

The scoring on Saturday began with the second goal of the year by junior Alex Armas just two-and-a-half minutes into the contest. Junior Lucas Geib added his 13th this season at 4:53, giving the home team an early 2-0 advantage.

Junior Ryo Kanesaka and senior Sal Gloria set up Godoy's first of the game at 27:24 and the Foresters led 3-0 for the rest of the half.

Senior Casey Nham converted a penalty kick opportunity for his second score of the season less than five minutes into the second half and Godoy assisted freshman Erik Truitt just 84 second later. Godoy added an unassisted goal at 57:10 and, after the Vikings finally got on the scoreboard at 68:55, Godoy finished off his second hat trick of the year with junior Jack Carlson assisting at 71:40.

Lake Forest senior goalkeeper Tero Elias was forced to make just one save while earning his program record 28th career victory. Since winning against Beloit College on Tuesday he had been tied for first place in team annals with Corey O'Connor (1988-91) and Eric Booth (2002-03).

It was the final regular season game of the season for both teams. Lake Forest improved to 10-6-1 overall and will enter next weekend's four-team Midwest Conference Tournament as the #4 seed after posting a 6-3-0 mark in league play. Lawrence finished 4-14-0 overall and 1-8-0 in the league.
