Junior Lucas Geib assisted on a pair of first half goals as the Lake Forest College men's soccer team posted a 3-1 victory over Beloit College at home on Tuesday.

A shot by Geib caromed off a Buccaneer defender back to senior Sal Gloria, who blasted in the game's first goal in the 31st minute. It was the fourth score of the season for Gloria.

The home team doubled its lead wth two-and-a-half minutes to play in the opening half on a score by sophomore Joao Godoy. He hit the back of the net from the right side after receiving a pass from Geib, who took over the team lead with his sixth assist of the year.

The Foresters had a 21-2 advantage in shots and a 2-0 edge on the scoreboard at halftime.

Lake Forest also out-shot Beloit 15-4 in the final 45 minutes but was given a score when the visitors pulled to within a goal with 8:35 on the clock.

The Foresters answered back at the 85:43 mark on Godoy's second score of the game and sixth this season. An errant pass entered the right side of the box and Babu tapped it to the middle of the field, giving Godoy a clear shot past the Buccaneer goalkeeper.

It was the 27th career victory for Lake Forest senior goalkeeper Tero Elias, tying the program record set by Corey O'Connor in 1991 and matched by Eric Booth in 2003. He is now 8-4-0 with a 0.84 goals against average on the season.

Lake Forest is now 9-6-1 overall this season and 5-3-0 in Midwest Conference play. Beloit fell to 4-12-1 overall and 2-6-0 in the league.

The Foresters can clinch a spot in the four-team MWC Tournament with a Grinnell College loss at Cornell College on Wednesday or with a victory over visiting Lawrence University in Saturday's regular season finale, which will begin at 11:00 a.m.
