Junior Lucas Geib scored one goal and assisted on another as the Forester men's soccer team hosted and defeated Monmouth College 2-0 on Saturday.

Geib's team-high 10th goal of the season was assisted by junior Jack Carlson, who raced up the right sideline before crossing the ball. Geib headed in the pass from the near post to give the home team the lead at the 30:51 mark.

The score remained 1-0 until the 53rd minute when junior Alex Armas crossed the ball from the right side of the field to Geib, who headed it back in front of the goal from the far post. Sophomore Joao Godoy was there to kick in his fourth score of the year and double the Forester advantage.

Lake Forest senior goalkeeper Tero Elias made four second-half saves to preserve his fourth shutout of the season and ninth of his career, tying him for fourth place in program history. He improved to 6-3-0 with a 0.88 goals against average in 2018.

The victory raised the Foresters' overall record on the season to 7-5-1 and Midwest Conference mark to 3-2-0 while Monmouth fell to 5-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the league.

Lake Forest will host Knox College Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
