There were no goals and the weather was the winner on Tuesday as the Forester men's soccer team played a scoreless half against Hope College, the 21st-ranked team in the nation, before the game was delayed by lightning and canceled by looming darkness.
Hope outshot the home team 7-1 in the period but Forester senior goalkeeper Tero Elias made three saves to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.
The result and statistics from the first half of play, however, will not count because the 70-minute time requirement was not reached. It is also unlikely the teams would be able to re-schedule the non-conference contest due to the distance between the schools.
The Foresters are still 5-3-1 overall on the season and will take a 1-0-0 Midwest Conference record to Iowa for a pair of games this weekend. Lake Forest will play at 11:00 a.m. at Grinnell College on Saturday and at the same time at Cornell College on Sunday.
