Lake Forest College men's soccer player Lucas Geib was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead his team to three victories to start the season.

Geib, a junior forward, scored a hat trick and had two assists for an eight-point performance in the Foresters' season-opener on Friday, a 5-0 shutout of Concordia University Chicago. Geib's previous career-high for points in a game was three. After assisting Gaston Aubert, who scored the game's first goal, Geib scored twice in the first period and once early in the second. He also assisted freshman Erik Truitt, who scored the game's final goal, to become the first player in program history to assist on multiple goals while completing a hat trick.

On Sunday, the Foresters clinched their second win of the season, a 3-1 triumph against Westminster University. Geib's goal at the 86:05 mark closed out the scoring.

On Wednesday, the Foresters picked up their third win of 2018, prevailing 2-0 at Carroll University. Geib netted his fifth goal of the season at the 69:45 mark, assisted by senior Sal Gloria.

"We are all thrilled with the way Lucas has started the season," Lake Forest College Head Men's Soccer Coach Dan Andrews said. "He's been in fine form and showing a lot of confidence on and off the field. His pace and agility have been a consistent threat and exciting to watch, not to mention his clinical finishing with both feet."

Geib was also named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week and United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Geib now has 40 career points on 17 goals and 6 assists in 40 games.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
