Foresters Headed to Chicago for First Two Rounds of NCAA Tournament

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team will travel to the University of Chicago this weekend for the first and second rounds of the 2017 NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Foresters earned their spot in the national playoffs by defeating St. Norbert College 2-1 on Friday and Grinnell College 2-0 on Saturday to win the Midwest Conference Tournament. The team is now 12-6-1 on the season and will take on Chicago (16-2-0), which entered the last weekend ranked eighth in the nation and first in the Central Region.

Lake Forest and Chicago will play in one regional semifinal at 5:00 Saturday evening and the other semifinal between include Dominican University (14-4-0) and Capital University (12-7-0) will follow at 7:30. The winners will advance to Sunday's regional final.

The Foresters earned their eighth NCAA Tournament berth overall, their third in the last five years, and the second under third-year head coach Dan Andrews. They were edged out 3-2 at Wheaton College in an opening round game during their last tournament appearance in 2015.
