Sophomore Lucas Geib scored just three minutes into the game and the Lake Forest College men's soccer team defeated visiting Monmouth College 1-0 on Sunday.

Geib was sprinting up the left side of the field, took a well-placed lead pass from senior Elyas Ingram, and beat the Fighting Scot goalkeeper for his fifth goal of the season. Ingram has now assisted on five goals in the last four games and on a team-high six this year. He now has 27 career assists and is closing in on a pair of players ranked tied-for-second in program history with 29 apiece. The school record of 35 is held by T.R. Bell, the head coach of the Forester women's soccer team.

Lake Forest had a 5-3 advantage in shots in the first half and a 4-3 edge in the final 45 minutes.

Forester junior goalkeeper Tero Elias made three saves in his third shutout of 2017. He improved to 6-2-1 this season and 16-10-1 in two years at the College.

The victory improves Lake Forest's overall record to 8-5-1 and Midwest Conference mark to 5-1-0. Monmouth fell to 2-11-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the league.

The next contest on the Foresters' schedule is another conference game at Illinois College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
