Foresters Pull Out 2-1 Victory over Beloit

Senior Elyas Ingram scored the first goal of the contest and assisted on the game-winner in the Lake Forest College men's soccer team's 2-1 triumph over visiting Beloit College on Thursday.

Ingram's third score of the season put the home team on top just seven minutes and 10 seconds into the game. The goal was set up by a cross from sophomore Lucas Geib, whose lofted pass from the left side went over the head of Ingram, who got to it before the defender, turned, and sent it past the Beloit goalkeeper.

Lake Forest out-shot the Buccaneers 6-1 in the first half but the visitors made the most of their one attempt, tying the score at the 31:10 mark.

The Foresters had a 14-2 advantage in shots in the second half but were unable to break the tie until, with just over seven minutes on the clock, freshman Isaac Odisho scored his first collegiate goal. Ingram started the play with a long pass up the right side of the field and over the Beloit defense, where senior John Cappuccitti chased it down and crossed it to a streaking Odisho near the top of the box. Odisho blasted a shot into the right side of the goal and the home team held on for the victory.

Junior goalkeeper Tero Elias made one save in the game and improved to 5-1-1 on the season.

Lake Forest is now 7-4-1 overall and a perfect 4-0-0 in Midwest Conference play. Beloit fell to 3-8-0 overall and 0-4-0 in the league.

The Foresters will travel to St. Norbert College on Sunday for a battle between two of the MWC's three teams without a loss in leauge play. The contest will begin at 2:30 p.m.
