The Lake Forest College men's soccer team hosted and defeated Trinity International University 2-1 on Thursday for its first victory of the season.

The Foresters had an 8-6 advantage in shots in the opening period but trailed the Trojans 1-0 at halftime after surrendering a goal with 3:02 to play in the half.

The home team tied the score on a penalty kick by senior midielder John Cappuccitti three minutes and 20 seconds in the second half. It was Lake Forest's first goal of the season. The Foresters continued to generate scoring opportunities and finally broke through for the game-winner with 4:22 on the clock. A long pass from Cappuccitti found senior defender Elyas Ingram near the far post and he headed the ball in front of the goal. An attempt by Trinity International to clear the ball was stopped by senior midfielder Seton Trostle, who sent it past the Trojan goalkeeper.

Lake Forest out-shot the visitors 12-6 during the final 45 minutes and 20-12 in the contest.

Forester junior goalkeeper Tero Elias made five saves and earned the victory to even his record at 1-1-0 on the season.

Lake Forest is now 1-2 on the year while Trinity International remained winless after four games.

The Foresters will travel to Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday to take on the Falcons at 1:00 p.m.
