Grinnell Ends Foresters' Season at MWC Tournament

Sophomore goalkeeper Tero Elias made a season-high seven saves but the Lake Forest College men's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by visiting Grinnell College on Friday in the semifinals of the Midwest Conference Tournament.

Grinnell scored the only goal of the game in the 29th minute.

Elias made a pair of saves in the first half and five in the final 45 minutes.

The Foresters out-shot the Pioneers 8-6 before halftime and 8-7 afterwards. It was their fourth time this season they attempted more shots than their opponent in a loss.

Prior to the game the MWC Elite 20 Award was presented to Lake Forest junior Nipun Chauhan. The award honors the player at the conference tournament with the highest cumulative grade point average.

The league champion Foresters finished the season with an overall record of 11-8-0. Grinnell is now 11-6-1 and will take on St. Norbert College at noon on Saturday in the tournament final.
