Sophomore goalkeeper Tero Elias earned his first career shutout as the Lake Forest College men's soccer team blanked host Monmouth College 2-0 on Sunday.

Elias needed to make just one save to keep the Fighting Scots off the scoreboard.

The Foresters out-shot the home team 8-2 in the first half and 7-3 in the second.

Junior Seton Trostle gave the visitors the early lead just 90 seconds into the contest. His third score this season was assisted by sophomore Amar Korac, who was making his first start of the year.

The game remained 1-0 until, with just 7:15 to play in the second half, freshman Lucas Geib netted his second goal of the year almost exactly 24 hours after scoring the first.

Lake Forest returns home with an 8-6-0 overall record and the team has clinched a spot in the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament with a 6-1-0 mark in league play. Monmouth fell to 4-9-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the conference.

Before resuming MWC play next weekend, the Foresters will travel to Dominican University on Tuesday for a non-conference game at 3:00 p.m.
