Lake Forest College men's soccer player John Cappuccitti was voted Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance in a pair of victories during the previous seven days.

Cappuccitti, a junior midfielder, became the first Forester since 1992 with eight points in a game when he scored a pair of goals and assisted on four others in a 7-2 victory at Lawrence University on Saturday. He started the scoring just two-and-a-half minutes into the contest, assisted on a goal at 11:42, and then netted the official game-winner at 32:03. Cappuccitti assisted on each of the game's next three scores to become just the second player in program history with at least four assists in a contest.

Lake Forest hosted and defeated St. Norbert College 4-2 on Wednesday to move into sole possession of first place in the Midwest Conference standings. Cappuccitti's well-placed corner kick was headed in by senior Ellis Rutili in the 24th minute to make the score 2-0. He also scored a goal of his own less than 10 minutes into the second half to give the home team a three-score cushion.

Cappuccitti's six goals are tied for first on the team and he leads the Foresters with 18 points and six assists.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Cappuccitti was also named MWC Offensive Performer of the Week on Monday.
