Sophomore Gaston Aubert scored a pair of goals to help lead the Lake Forest College men's soccer team to a 4-2 victory over St. Norbert College at home on Wednesday.

Aubert started the scoring at the 15:58 mark with assists credited to fellow juniors George Moushi and Elyas Ingram. Ingram's throw-in from the right sideline was headed toward the goal by Moushi. Aubert stepped in front of the Green Knight goalkeeper and headed the ball over him and into the goal.

The only other score in the first half came on a corner kick opportunity in the 24th minute. Senior Ellis Rutili was set to play the ball until junior John Cappuccitti came over to take the corner instead. His pass crossed just in front of the goal and Rutili headed it in to make the score 2-0.

After Aubert and Rutili tied him for the team lead with five goals, Cappuccitti regained the advantage with his sixth at 54:44. Ingram's long pass from the right sideline found Cappuccitti in the box. He continued to his right and blasted a shot past the keeper and into the goal.

After the visitors pulled back to within two goals at 58:36, the Foresters answered just two minutes later. St. Norbert's attempted clear following a corner kick went high in the air and came down to Aubert 20 yards from the goal. Before the ball could hit the ground, he kicked it with his left foot and sent it into the left side of the goal.

A goal by the Green Knights with 32.1 seconds on the clock closed out the scoring.

The Foresters had an 8-3 edge in shots in the opening period and a 9-5 edge in the final 45 minutes.

Lake Forest sophomore goalkeeper Tero Elias made three saves in the first half and one in the second to earn the victory and improve to 6-5-0 on the year.

The Foresters are now 7-5-0 overall this season and 5-0-0 in Midwest Conference play. St. Norbert fell to 9-3-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the league. Knox College, who also won on Wednesday, is now in between them in the standings at 4-0-0. Lake Forest's next game will be at Knox on Saturday, October 15, at 1:00 p.m.
