Foresters Pull Out Double-Overtime Win over Grinnell

Sophomore Gaston Aubert scored in double overtime to give the Lake Forest College men's soccer team a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over visiting Grinnell College on Sunday.

Aubert's second game-winner in as many Sundays came with 6:10 on the clock in the second overtime period. The play began with a goal kicker from Forester sophomore goalkeeper Tero Elias that bounced once before being headed forward by sophomore Sal Gloria and junior John Cappuccitti to Aubert, who slipped the ball past the charging Grinnell goalie and into the net for hiw third score of the season.

Lake Forest trailed by a goal for most of the contest. Grinnell took the early lead exactly 14 minutes into the contest but the home team responded with a score just 2:19 later. Aubert assisted on the first goal as a Forester for sophomore George Moushi. The Pioneers, however, regained the lead at the 18:25 mark and the score was still 2-1 at halftime.

The Foresters doubled up the visitors first half shot total 8-4 and accounted for all three of the game's shot attempts in the second half.

The home team finally tied the score with just 3:56 to play in regulation on a penalty kick goal by Cappuccitti. It was his third score of the year.

Lake Forest out-shot the Pioneers 5-3 in the first 10-minute overtime period and both teams attempted a pair of shots in less than four minutes of play in the second extra stanza.

Elias recorded a pair of saves in the contes and evened his record on the year at 4-4-0.

The Foresters improved to 5-4-0 overall and remained perfect in Midwest Conference play after three league contests. Grinnell fell to 6-4-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the MWC.

Lake Forest's next game will be a non-conference contest at Wheaton College Tuesday night at 7:00.
