Foresters Need Just 18 Extra Seconds to Win at Carthage

Junior midfielder John Cappuccitti scored 18 seconds into overtime to give the Lake Forest College men's soccer team a 2-1 victory at Carthage College Wednesday night.

Cappuccitti's second goal of the year was assisted by junior forward Seton Trostle at the 90:28 mark. Cappuccitti now has three game-winners in 24 games played as a Forester and five in his collegiate career overall.

Despite being out-shot 5-2 in the game's first 45 minutes, Lake Forest led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a goal by senior defender Colin Jackson at 21:19. Junior midfielder George Moushi earned his first point as a Forester by assisting on the play.

The Red Men had a 7-3 advantage in shots in the second half and tied the score at the 64:49 mark.

Lake Forest sophomore goalkeeper Tero Elias made five saves to earn the victory.

The non-conference win raised the Foresters' overall 0record on the season to 1-2-0 while Carthage fell to 3-1-0.

Lake Forest will host the 2016 Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) Soccer Showcase this weekend. The Foresters' first game will be against Macalester College Friday at 1:30 p.m. and the team will also take on Coe College Saturday morning at 10:30.
