Concordia Wisconsin Spoils Foresters' Home Opener

Junior midfielder John Cappuccitti scored Lake Forest's first goal of the season to give the home team the lead but the Foresters eventually fell 3-2 to visiting Concordia University Wisconsin on Sunday.

Cappuccitti's free kick with 2:20 to play in the first half sailed over the goalkeeper's head and into the back of the net. It was the only shot on goal for either team in the period and the Foresters had a 3-1 edge in shots overall at halftime.

Concordia Wisconsin tied the score at the 50:46 mark but Lake Forest regained the lead at the 58:11 mark. Senior defender John Palutsis lined a free kick into the box, where senior midfielder Brendan McLane deflected it and junior forward Seton Trostle kicked it past the Falcon goalie into the right side of the goal.

The 2-1 lead held until the visitors were awarded a penalty kick for a foul in the box and converted at the 80:39 mark. The Falcons struck again less than three minutes later with what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Concordia Wisconsin out-shot the Foresters 10-7 in the second half and 11-10 in the contest.

Lake Forest fell to 0-2-0 on the young season whlie the Falcons improved to 2-0-0.

The Foresters will travel to Carthage College on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
