Foresters Drop Season Opener at Benedictine

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team began 2016 with a 2-0 loss at Benedictine University Thursday night.

Both goals for the home team were scored in the second half. After out-shooting the Foresters 8-2 in the first 45 period, the Eagles took the lead just three-and-a-half minutes into the second. The insurance tally came 12 minutes later and Benedictine had a 3-1 advantage in shots during the final 45 minutes.

Lake Forest's only shot on goal on the night came off the foot of sophomore midfielder Sal Gloria in the game's 39th minute.

The loss snaps a streak of three consecutive season-opening victories for the Foresters, who will host Concordia University Wisconsin in their next game at 1:00 Sunday afternoon.
