The Forester men's soccer team posted a 2-0 victory over visiting Monmouth College on Saturday, thanks to a pair of goals by senior forward Dylan Hartman.

After out-shooting the Fighting Scots 11-2 in a scoreless opening half, the Foresters finally got on the scoreboard on their first shot of the second. Senior defender John Palutsis played a long pass from midfield ahead to Hartman, who blasted it past the Monmouth goalkeeper 86 seconds into the period.

Lake Forest struck again at 73:29. A Monmouth midfielder played a ball back to a teammate near midfield but it slipped past the defender, allowing Hartman to gain control with nothing but 50 yards and the Monmouth goalie between him and the goal. He converted for his seventh score of the season and the sixth two-goal game of his career. Hartman is now seventh in program history with 74 career points and 10th with 26 goals.

The home team out-shot the Scots 11-4 during the game's final 45 minutes.

The victory raised the Foresters' overall record on the season to 9-5-0 and their Midwest Conference mark to 4-2-0. Monmouth fell to 4-10-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the league.

Lake Forest will host Illinois College Sunday afternoon at 1:30.
