Mameledzija, Johnson, and Kraus Earn All-Region Honors

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its 2013 All-Region teams on Tuesday and Lake Forest College's Mahir Mameledzija, Steven Johnson, and Kyle Kraus made the list.

Mameledzija, a senior forward, was a First Team All-North Region selection for the second straight season after earning Third Team honors as a sophomore. He led the team and Midwest Conference with 19 goals and 42 points on the year and ranked 12th and 19th in the nation, respectively, in those categories. Mameledzija scored at least once in 13 of 21 games with five multi-goal performances, including his fourth career hat trick. The MWC Player of the Year and Capital One Academic All-American of the Year® finished his career with a school and conference record 71 goals and 165 points. Mameledzija will now appear on the NSCAA's All-American ballot.

Johnson, a senior midfielder, was named Second Team All-North Region for the second year in a row. He scored one goal and assisted on five others this fall and finished his career with 25 points on four goals and 17 assists. Four of his assists were recorded during conference play and he was named First Team All-MWC on November 4.

Kraus, a junior defender, earned Third Team All-North Region honors after helping lead a Forester defense that allowed just 17 goals in 21 games with nine shutouts. He assisted on three goals and joined Mameledzija and Johnson as First Team All-MWC selections.

Mameledzija, Johnson, and Kraus helped lead Lake Forest to a 14-7-0 overall record, a 9-1-0 mark in MWC play, and the team's second straight league title. The Foresters also won the MWC Tournament, advanced to the NCAA Tourney for the first time in 32 years, and hosted an NCAA Tournament game for the first time in program history.
